Accessibility

The UK Disability Discrimination Act will be updated in October 2004 to allow disabled people to sue webmasters who discriminate against them by failing to make their sites accessible. Our accessibility pages are a good starting point to web accessibility. The following sites complete the picture:

Guidelines for web page accessibility. Part of the W3C (World Wide Web Consortium).

Web standards

Many web designers don't bother to code properly and their sites often don't function correctly in browsers other than Internet Explorer. It's not difficult to code correctly - especially when the W3C website contains html coding guidelines and an html validator:

The World Wide Web Consortium
The home page of the standard setting body for the world wide web. Contains complete guidelines on html and CSS coding.

W3C HTML validator
The W3C markup validation service is a free service that checks html documents for conformance to W3C standards.
